This is a very inspiring story of two twin brothers Satish Adhikari and Sameer Adhikari of Mohraan Farms, from whom we are getting Alphonso and Kesar Mangoes.I met these awesome twins @ Aikanthika farms, Davangere during Fukuoka Method of farming.
MOHRAAN
Savlaram master who was lovingly addressed as Adhikari Guruji by his students later, purchased this land from a relative when he was working as a teacher in Mumbai Municipal School. After his half-day duty on Saturdays, he used to travel about 4 hours by train and state transport bus to come to our village Sakurli. He planted a few mango trees in this jungle and would water them every Sunday morning. Few years passed and a forest fire gulped most of those tiny mango plants. He continued to plant more trees, water, and nurse them for almost two decades until he retired in 1998. After this, he shifted permanently to Sakurli. In the next few years, he and his eldest son Satish planted about 500 saplings of various varieties of mangoes, coconuts, chikoo, cashew, and other plants. Slowly a beautiful orchard started to take shape.
The youngest twins Sachin and Sameer who were born n brought up in Mumbai completed their education in Engineering and MBA. After few jobs, they started a business in Industrial automation and later Vehicle tracking systems. After understanding the hazards of chemical-laden food on the plate they decided to grow healthy and chemical-free food for their family.
As they developed an interest, they started to read a lot about natural farming. Along with reading they decided to put their hands in the soil and started visiting the farm at least once a week. Slowly visiting other natural and experimenting farmers, attending various workshops, and practicing, experimenting on the farm became a passion. They decided to build a natural food forest here. Soon, Sachin’s wife Shraddha and daughter Saee too started to accompany them, and before they all knew they had become farmers. This family who never imagined spending their lives in a village started liking this lifestyle. Slowly, friends and family started to visit often and in 2018 constructing a few earth-friendly structures to meet various needs was only natural. This is how Mohraan was born. Now, they all have moved to Mohraan for good and have become full-time farmers and part-time businesspersons evolving with each passing day.
